Tuscan Wines

Chianti is perhaps the most famous Tuscan wine. It is made from Sangiovese grapes, along with small amounts of other local grape varieties such as Canaiolo and Colorino. Chianti is known for its bright acidity, moderate tannins, and flavors of cherry, strawberry, and spice.

Brunello di Montalcino is a premium red wine made from 100% Sangiovese grapes. It is produced in the town of Montalcino in southern Tuscany and is known for its intense, complex flavors of dark fruit, earth, and spice. Brunello di Montalcino is aged for at least five years before release, with some producers aging it for even longer.

Super Tuscans are a relatively new category of wine that emerged in the 1970s. They are made from a blend of grape varieties, typically including Sangiovese and international varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah. Super Tuscans are known for their full-bodied, complex flavors and are often aged in oak barrels.

Vernaccia di San Gimignano is a white wine made from the Vernaccia grape. It is produced in the town of San Gimignano in central Tuscany and is known for its crisp acidity, floral aromas, and flavors of lemon and green apple.

Vin Santo is a sweet dessert wine that is made from dried grapes. It is typically served with biscotti or other desserts and is known for its nutty, caramel flavors and rich, syrupy texture.
